Phnom Penh — On 26 January 2026, Smart Axiata welcomed the Information Technology Department of General Secretariat of Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to its headquarters for a knowledge-sharing visit focused on Smart’s international-standard Data Center, Service Operation Center (SOC), and Cyber Fusion Center. The visit aimed at providing practical insights as MEF prepares to enhance its own data center and security capabilities.
As Cambodia’s preferred telco and integrated ICT solutions provider, Smart introduced the ministry’s technical team to the company’s ISO/IEC 27001-certified Information Management System and advanced security operations in benchmarking with the international telecom standard. The company also presented its disciplined security culture and infrastructure, which are compliant with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity standards. The visit demonstrated how Smart has built and operated secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure aligned with global best practices.
Beyond robust infrastructure and procedures, Smart’s cybersecurity capabilities are strengthened by the regional expertise of the Axiata Cyber Fusion Center (ACFC), enabling proactive threat detection through continuous monitoring of potential risks.
“Today’s visit was a great opportunity for us to openly share what Smart has been building over the years and the standards we operate by,” said Sharif Lukman Mahfoedz, Smart Axiata’s Chief Business Officer. “We are proud to exchange best practices with the public sector with a common goal of building a safe and trusted digital ecosystem in Cambodia.”
The delegation from the MEF expressed strong appreciation for the visit. “This visit allowed us to better understand how international-standard Data Center and security operations are applied in practice,” said Mr. Bi Narin, Director of the Information Technology Department of General Secretariat of Ministry of Economy and Finance. “We were impressed by Smart’s facilities, operational discipline and cybersecurity maturity, and we will absorb these experiences as we move forward with our own Data Center and SOC development plans.”
By combining integrated ICT solutions with 5G connectivity, Smart continues to position itself as a trusted partner in shaping a safer digital experience in Cambodia in the digital economy for both public and private sectors.
