What is eSIM?

eSIM is a new SIM standard being developed by GSMA to be used by network operator worldwide. The current Smart eSIM will allow users to load their SIM profiles without having to insert a physical SIM card into their e-sim supporting devices.

What are the devices currently supporting Smart eSIM?

Smart eSIM currently supports Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 5, iPad Pro and the latest iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, except the China version with code ZA/A as those devices only support Dual Physical SIMs, not eSIM.
More devices may be introduced as manufacturers start incorporating eSIM into their products and Smart will publish this on our website once there are new supporting devices coming in.

What happens if we want to switch between devices with same eSIM number?

If you have registered your eSIM card to any particular eSIM device, your eSIM will be unique to that first device you registered it to. If you want to switch to another eSIM supporting devices in the future using the same number, you are required to activate another eSIM profile and the first eSIM profile will be automatically deactivated. In this case, current SIM Card replacement fee applied.

Who are eligible to apply for Smart eSIM?

Both new and existing Smart subscriber can request for a Smart eSIM. Standard SIM card price and process applied

Where could I sign up for Smart eSIM?

You can sign up for Smart eSIM with any of the above supporting devices at all our Smart Shops nationwide. We will let you know once eSIM is available at other Smart Shops or any other Smart dealers nationwide later.

How much is the cost of an eSIM for prepaid subscriber?

a. If you are a new Smart subscriber, the cost of an eSIM will be based on the current standard price of the number category you are choosing.
b. If you are an existing Smart subscriber and would like to change from physical sim card to an eSIM, the standard 2 USD top up requirement applied. This is also applied to an eSIM replacement.

How much is the cost of an eSIM for postpaid subscriber?

Smart Postpaid subscribers can upgrade to eSIM just for FREE as per current practice. Standard SIM replacement process applies.

What should I do if I want to change from Smart eSIM to a normal physical SIM card back?

You can come to any Smart Shop nationwide to change it. Standard SIM card replacement charge applied.

Could I replace Smart eSIM profile with other eSIM providers profile?

Yes, you can do so by just switching your Smart eSIM profile on your device with other eSIM profile that you have already registered with another operator. These profiles can then be switched back and force on the device itself.

Can I use my existing Smart profile on another eSIM device?

Currently Smart does not support one eSIM profile for multiple devices. If you have registered your eSIM to any particular eSIM device, your eSIM will be unique to that first device. If you want to switch to another eSIM-supporting device in the future using the same number, you are required to activate another eSIM profile (the first eSIM profile will be automatically deactivated). In this case, the current SIM card replacement fee applies.

Do I need to delete Smart eSIM profile prior to sending my device for servicing/replacement?

Yes, we encourage you to do so to prevent any unauthorized use of your mobile services.

What should I do if I had lost/misplaced my eSIM registered device?

You can contact Smart to suspend your eSIM profile. You may wish to request for a replacement SIM or eSIM later to continue using with your new device. Or you can ask Smart to reconnect your eSIM profile back if the device is found.

With Smart eSIM service, how many Smart numbers can be registered under one device?

With Smart eSIM service, you can register up to 8 different Smart numbers in one device; however, only one profile can be active at a time. This number of supporting profile can be different if you use with other operator’s eSIM service.
