Smart donates school bags to 2,000 students via MoEYS
PHNOM PENH, 21th May 2016 – Smart Axiata sets forth its close collaboration with Ministry of Education Youth and Sport by making a donation of 2,000 school bags to 11 schools to encourage and support their students learning and to support education in Cambodia overall.
Smart’s mission goes far beyond being just a telecommunications provider, the company engaged itself heavily to support the education sector. Main highlights are the initiatives with UNESCO and supported by MoEYS around the National Literacy Campaign, which enabled 92,000 Cambodians to read and write. In cooperation with Sipar, Smart has deployed two mobile libraries to encourage and elevate education in Cambodia, at least 1,000 children can access books and technology daily.
Today, we keep doing, making the next step. Smart is donating 2,000 school bags to 11 primary schools in Kampong Cham and Kandal provinces. The schools and students’ profiles receiving the bags were recommended by the Ministry. The students who receive the bags are outstanding performers, some students face financial problems.
