Smart Axiata gives free on-net minutes to all subscribers to support Kingdom’s fight against COVID-19

Sustainable and uninterrupted communication for all users is Smart Axiata’s primary objective at all times, especially now. Giving all Smart subscribers 60 on-net minutes for free every day until the end of March is another way Smart is supporting the Kingdom’s fight against COVID-19.

“Now more than ever, people want to be in close contact with their loved ones, especially when physically apart and distanced from one another. We at Smart Axiata understand how important connectivity is in the everyday life of our customer nowadays. Adding 60 free minutes for on-net calls every day for all our prepaid and postpaid subscribers during these difficult days is one of the measures we can take to meet our users’ needs,” said Smart Axiata’s Chief Executive Officer Thomas Hundt.

Subscribers can get the free 60 minutes for on-net calls by simply dialing *2021#.

Smart also recently started to offer subscribers 1GB of data for free every time they top up at least 1.25 USD via the SmartNas app, Smart website or Smart’s Zero Balance Portal.

In addition to offering customers free calls and data to encourage social distancing, Smart has used its network to support the government in its COVID-19 awareness campaign with special ringtones and SMS blasts to its 8 million subscribers across the nation to encourage adherence to public health guidelines.

The company also says funds are still available from its 1 Million USD COVID-19 Relief Fund, which was launched in March 2020 to support initiatives to help Cambodians cope with the health, social and economic impacts of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Twelve different organizations, including Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, Save the Children and Friends International, have already received support from the COVID-19 Relief Fund, and the company has reiterated that it is still welcoming new applications from companies and organizations that are trying to make a positive difference to the lives of Cambodians who are facing up to the challenges of the global pandemic.
