Following one month of intense competition, Angkor PUBG emerged victorious in the Kingdom’s largest e-Sports event, the Smart PUBG Mobile Tournament, initiated by Cambodia’s leading mobile telecommunications provider Smart Axiata and endorsed by the E-Sports Federation of Cambodia.

The winning team, consisting of 5 members, was awarded 60,000,000 riels and Realme 6 smartphones.

From an initial pool of more than 300 registered teams, 40 teams gathered on the 27th of June to compete in the semi-final stage. 20 teams were then selected to battle in the final stage on 28th of June whereby the top ten teams were in total awarded 120,000,000 riels cash prizes and Realme 6 smartphones.

Sim Laysrun member of winning Angkor PUBG, said he is very grateful for Smart Axiata to have created such an innovative entertainment program for Cambodian gamers.

“The competition was a thrilling experience for me and my team. We usually play for fun but to compete with others as a group live on Facebook, that involved a lot of anticipation and excitement. My team showcased our chemistry and team spirit in counter attack and defense; that led us to be the champions and we are delighted to have joined this tournament,” said Laysrun.

Supported by Tencent Games, one of the world’s largest Internet and technology companies, and Realme, one of world’s leading smartphone manufacturers, the Smart PUBG Mobile Tournament aimed to provide local gamers with opportunities to win great prizes and give them a chance to engage with the gaming community.

“I would like to congratulate team Angkor PUBG on winning the first ever Smart PUBG Mobile Tournament. We at Smart will continue to bring more diverse digital lifestyle propositions for our customers, including introducing more initiatives in the field of e-Sports. We are thrilled that so many young Cambodians formed teams as well as joined the tournament, and we are hoping to see even more participation at our future events,” said Thomas Hundt, Chief Executive Officer of Smart Axiata.
