SmallWorld SmallBand (SWSB) releases new album on Pleng by Smart
The forthcoming album features themes of maturity, love and life
Phnom Penh, 14th October 2019 – SmallWorld SmallBand or better known as SWSB, one of Cambodia’s leading music bands renowned for creating new styles of Cambodian pop, announced the release of its new album on Monday evening at Smart Shop Monivong.
The album titled SmallWorld SmallBand consists of 12 new songs, with the first 6 to be made available on the Kingdom’s leading online music platform Pleng by Smart from now. Fans can enjoy the other 6 songs performed live at any of the upcoming SWSB concerts. The full album will be released in January 2020.
The band, led by bassist Riem SokPhirom, with lead singer Rithy LomorKesor, guitarist Morm Picherith and drummer SophyRong David, has been working on their new album for the past 15 months, with Picherith and Kesor writing the songs as well as exploring new ways of creating a new style music.
“Releasing this album is a significant moment in our music career that we have been waiting for and we are very excited to share something with our fans this year. Our aspiration is to introduce a new style of music to the mass audiences in Cambodia. We will keep chasing this dream and hopefully bring this music to an international audience in future,” said Kesor.
SmallWorld SmallBand is known for creating songs with a story and for redefining Cambodian music. Since releasing their singles Bonn Phum, Love9, Sport Song and Khmer Flag and their first album ‘2×5’, they have built a solid fan base among Cambodian music fans.
“Our second album is very deep and personal. We are sure people will relate to the music. It’s about love, life and responsibility. Basically, it’s about growing up!” said Picherith.
