Pleng announces the nominees of Cambodia’s biggest music awards show, Pleng Music Awards 2022
The country’s biggest music award show – the Pleng Music Awards 2022 – is about to take place. Initiated by Smart Axiata, PMA encourages, supports, and celebrates the work and achievements of Cambodian singers, songwriters and music.
Ton Chanseyma’s “Are You Okay”, Tep Boprek’s “Top of The Lady” and Suly Pheng’s “Missing” are just some of the songs in the running to win an award in this year’s program.
The upcoming awards ceremony will take place at Phnom Penh Garden City, Saturday, 19 March and will be broadcasted live on Facebook.
PMA will feature a red carpet and live performances bringing together the Kingdom’s rising stars, legendary artists, and influencers to celebrate and recognize the achievements of the industry’s top performing artists and producers.
Acting CEO of Smart Axiata Feiruz Ikhwan said “We started Pleng so that Cambodian musicians and artists have a platform to showcase their amazing talents to the millions of music lovers in the Kingdom. Pleng Music Awards 2022 is yet another an exciting opportunity that Smart Axiata has created to pave the way for Cambodia’s biggest stars to gain local and international recognition. We also see PMA as a display of our appreciation to the meteoric growth of the Kingdom’s prominent music industry.”
The seven categories presented at PMA will be: Song of the Year, New Artist of The Year, Best Collaborative Song of the Year, Female Artist of The Year, Male Artist of the Year, Music Video of The Year and Band of The Year. Three special awards will also be presented including Most Streamed Song, Most Streamed Female Artist, Most Streamed Male Artist and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Winners of the seven categories will be determined by public voting (40%), scoring from industry experts (40%) and the total number of streams on Pleng (20%). Fans can show their support by registering their phone numbers and voting on Pleng and by continuing to stream their favorite artists’ songs.
Voting began on 16 February and will close on 7 March for all categories.
