Can I apply for this scholarship if I am a Grade A or B student who passed the secondary (Grade 12) examination in 2015 or 2016?

This year’s scholarship is only eligible for students who sat in the 2017 exam that has recently concluded with the results announcement on 10-11 September 2017.

Can I apply for this scholarship if I am a student who re-sat for my exam this year i.e. 2017?

You are not eligible to apply.

How long is the duration of this scholarship?

This scholarship is provided to support students throughout their entire university study. The scholarship duration may be 4 or 5 years depending on the degree and major chosen by the candidates.

Which degree or major and university is this scholarship applicable for?

Applicants are free to choose any degree or major that they want to pursue at any state and public university except University of Health and Sciences, and the total duration of the course must be no longer than 5 years.

What does the whole scholarship package consist of?

Successful candidates will be provided with up to $15,000 per student for the whole duration of his or her tertiary education, dependent on the duration of the major or course.

Is there a cap to the number of scholars per year?

For the time being, there will be 20 successful scholarship applicants from this year onward this includes 10 ICT scholarships particularly at NIPTICT.

Will successful candidates be bonded to Smart Axiata?

Within 3 years after graduating, successful candidates must work for Smart for at least 1 year. (Salary and terms will be agreed by the scholar and Smart based on the ability of the scholar or applicant). Furthermore, successful candidates will get offered with internship opportunities at Smart during the
course of the scholarship.

How do I apply for this scholarship?

You can obtain the hardcopy forms from any Provincial Department of Education Youth and Sport, Department of Higher Education in Phnom Penh, any nearest Smart Shops or NIPTICT (for NIPTICT applicants only) or you may apply online via: “click here”

Hardcopies of the application forms will need to be submitted to Department of Higher Education of MoEYS (in front of PUC South Campus).
NIPTICT applicants must submit the completed application form to NIPTICT only
Application will close on 13 October 2017 (both online and offline application forms).

What will be the selection process of this scholarship?

All candidates will go through a first round of shortlisting based on the criteria set jointly by Smart, MoEYS and MPTC. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for a face-to- face interview with the joint-committee who will then decide the final list of scholars.
